Global Employee Health & Fitness Month (GEHFM) is an international observance of health and fitness in the workplace. The goal of GEHFM is to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle to employers and their employees through worksite health promotion activities and environments. This initiative is held in May of each year, which is traditionally employee health and fitness month.

Here at Fugleberg Koch, we would like to take this time to reflect on some of the ways we promote a healthy lifestyle. Our Health and Wellness chairs put together internal monthly newsletters containing fitness challenges, health promotion activities, and tools and resources to create a healthy environment.

During the month of May, FK hosted a Virtual 5k Fitness Challenge where 14 employees participated, completing a combined 52.22 miles.

Along with getting physically in shape, we addressed Mental Health. We provided tools and resources that provided ways to reduce stress, tips on creating a healthy routine, and options for addressing your mental well-being and screening your mental health. According to Mental Health America, starting conversations and identifying problems are essential steps in addressing mental health concerns. To help identify symptoms of a mental health disorder, Mental Health America offers free online, real-time screening. Their recent database monitoring indicates a significant increase in stress and anxiety from dealing with COVID-19. Our employees, their physical health, and their mental health are extremely important to our overall culture.
