This summer Frank and I visited Switzerland and were very impressed with the beautiful mountain views and scenery around the country. We stayed for ten days and visited some of the main cities: Geneva, Interlaken, Bern, Lucerne and Zurich. One of the most beautiful views was the Matterhorn, a mountain of the Alps located on the border between Switzerland and Italy. We loved the charming city of Zermatt where we enjoyed a good chocolate while admiring the Matterhorn from a close distance.

Hiking is a common activity in the central part of Switzerland due to the many beautiful mountain ranges in this area and we had the opportunity to do some hiking in Interlaken as well as paragliding.

One remarkable thing we learned about the country was their approach to recycling. There are different colored container for every disposal; there is a place to leave paper and cardboard, a container to drop the compost, other for glass, and even one for pet bottles, some for regular household waste, electronic waste, etc. The Swiss take recycling to a whole new level and it seems pretty hard; some locals told us that they are still trying to figure out the ins and outs of the rules. Later on I learned that Switzerland ranks Top in the World for environmental protection.
