I ride with team United by Design. Our fundraising amount for 2019 has gone up to 56K, and over our 10 years as a team we have raised upwards of $300,000 for MS research and support for those with MS. Two of my best friends, Pam and Sheila (pictured below), also on the team, both of whom have MS, are our “champions” and a huge reason why I ride and donate every year. I’m not sure if I would’ve ever known about this event if it weren’t for Christner Architects where I started this journey for my first 3 years. A lot of those original Team Christner members are now on United by Design and our team has members mostly from design professions and include their friends, and family.

Bike MS 2019: Gateway Chapter event near St. Louis is my 8th in the books. Annually, the event is scheduled the first full weekend of September and has scheduled rides on Saturday and Sunday. Very early on, nearly 20 years ago, when the event was held in rural Missouri, it was an out and back ride 75 miles each day with camping on Saturday night. Now, you have a choice to ride 25, 50, 75 or 100 miles each day and the routes are fully supported with rest stops every 10 miles. I’ve made dear friendships being a part of this group with fond memories and ridden many, many miles with them.
